CAFOD supports a number of non-school based health and education programmes in Africa and Asia.  Examples of these include assistance to orphans of AIDS victims through provision of school fees, and youth education programmes containing health advice. In recent years the fund has been reconsidering its strategy of working independently of the existing school structure.
