About this Site
The 'Schools & Health' website is a global resource on school health, nutrition, education & HIV. Schools and Health was developed by The Partnership for Child Development (PCD) in response to demand for a global website covering school health and nutrition (SHN) issues. It was the first global SHN site and went on to become the first to bring together information on HIV and education issues.
Established in 2002 and hosted by PCD, the Schools & Health website provides a platform to access reliable information on SHN through the collection, dissemination and sharing of knowledge on effective SHN strategies and through promoting and strengthening communication and cross-sectoral partnerships. Contemporary and quality assured information is provided, including more than 200 downloadable documents, covering strategy and policy, examples of good programming practice, technical reviews and toolkits, as well as current reports. Translations of many of these documents are now available in languages including French, Portuguese and Spanish with some documents available also in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Kiswahili, and Russian.
The website has grown consistently since its inception; culminating in over a million hits in 2006. In light of this continued growth, PCD undertook a re-development of the site in 2007, and re-launched it in June 2008.
In 2007, the Schools and Health website received a mean of:
• Over 2,000 hits per day
• Over 400 unique visitors per day
• Over 1,000 requests for document downloads per day
