EpiDynamics: Models of Helminth Epidemiology
EpiDynamics is a suite of programmes, which use mathematical models to describe the epidemiology of human helminth infections. These models can be used to evaluate the impact of different treatment programmes on the patterns of infection and disease in human communities. Three different programs are available, EpiSchisto (for schistosomiasis), EpiFil (for lymphatic filariasis) and EpiWorm (for
Ascaris lumbricoides
,
Trichuris trichiura
and hookworm infections). All programmes are available in English and French.
The programmes can run on any computer with Windows 95/98/NT, each programme can be separately downloaded using the links below (as Zip files). Full instructions for program installation and use can also be found in the EpiDynamics Users Guide, that can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format.

Disclaimer
This suite of programs is intended as a research, management and educational tool for helminth epidemiology. It has been developed using available data from the literature. Although care has been taken to ensure that the model makes best use of the available data, the inherent uncertainty in many of the model parameters necessarily limits the accuracy of the model. We can therefore provide no guarantee that the predictions of the model are correct and we cannot place confidence intervals around the estimates of numbers of infections or cases. Although the model can be used as an indication of the likely outcome of given control programmes, this should not be treated as a forecast or prediction.
